Amon Düül II - 1996 - Eternal Flashback

Amon Düül II
1996
Eternal Flashback

01. Eternal Flashback (67:49)

Originally given away free to people who ordered enough other Amon Düül CDs from the record label with material from 1969 to 1971 reworked by members of the group into one seamless space rock epic.

All that could be said about Eternal Flashback has already been said for its "twin" record Kobe; here we have another long piece articulated in 7 parts in which snippets of unreleased and (mostly) released music from 1969-1970 are mixed, juxtaposed and sometimes even randomly overdubbed to each other.

The lack of material forces the compilators to repeat the same themes twice or more, like with Kanaan, that could be considered the main theme of the album; in fact this record mostly takes sources from the Phallus Dei period (and most of it from the Phallus Dei album itself), while Kobe was a bit more Yeti-oriented.
